The University of Maryland Medical
System: 25 Years and Growing The privatization of Maryland’s teaching hospital—the University of Maryland Medical System—occurred a quarter-century ago. Since that time the once debt-ridden enterprise has been transformed into a thriving nine-member hospital system serving Maryland and the world. The secret to its success has been maintaining a working synergy with the University of Maryland School of Medicine. On the cover, UMMS president and CEO Robert A.
