    Alumni, faculty, and friends are invited to send in their nominations for two MAA-sponsored awards. Applications are accepted through November 1 for awards presented the following spring.

    The Distinguished Service Award, established in 1986, is presented to a University of Maryland School of Medicine graduate for outstanding service to the Medical Alumni Association and University of Maryland School of Medicine. Factors considered in the selection process include impact of activities and initiatives that enhance the stature of the Medical Alumni Association school.
