Sir William Osler has frequently been described as the Father of Modern Medicine and one of the greatest diagnosticians ever to wield a stethoscope. Osler was a Canadian physician and one of the four founding professors of Johns Hopkins Hospital who created the first residency program, extracting students out of the classroom for bedside training. Richard Colgan, M.D., retired professor of family medicine at Maryland, presents this engaging discussion on Osler’s relationship with and impact on our medical school.
